Extraction of antibiotics using aqueous two-phase systems based on ethyl lactate and thiosulphate salts

Ethyl lactate is a hydrophilic solvent produced from bio-renewable sources (bioethanol and lactic acid corn fermentation) that considered as “green” due to its extremely low toxicity, biodegradability negligible eco-toxicity. This work focuses on the utilization of ethyl form aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS) in presence inorganic salts for extraction antibiotics solutions. The performance three thiosulfate (Na2S2O3, K2S2O3 (NH4)2S2O3) salting-out media chloramphenicol tetracycline their solutions was examined. In this respect, cloud points ternary composed lactate, water salt were determined at atmospheric pressure (0.1 MPa) 298.2 K. Partition coefficients between two phases by chemical analysis equilibrium different initial compositions paper first report demonstrate ability ATPS based efficiently separate antibiotics. Thus, represents new green platform which can facilitate detection, identification quantification surface waters well fermentation broths.
